whaddaya know – it worked!
Ever since it started getting light earlier in the morning we’ve been running into a daily morning battle. Lanette waking up at the crack of dawn. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like waking up early…even for a good reason (like taking care of my firstborn). So half the time when she would wake up we would trudge into the living room and turn on a cartoon for her so we could rest a few minutes longer (shocking, I know). Well, when Lanette starts out the day watching TV it is like all the creative juices have been sucked outta her and all she can think about is watching another show. So…it looked like we needed a new plan. Someone once mentioned to me that they used an alarm clock and to their kid they couldn’t get come out of their room until it turned to 7. Sorry, I can’t remember who it was (Kim was it you??), but thanks for the tip – it totally worked!! Her little alarm clock is digital (unlike the one above) so it is really easy for her to tell when it says 7. The best part? She was up earlier for some reason this morning and came to ask us if it was the morning yet and I told her it wasn’t at the 7 yet…before I could get any more words out she skeddadled back to her room with out any complaints. It’s a miracle!! Whoo hoo for creative parenting!
California trip!
We had a blast in California this last week with my brother and his family. Thanks bro. for everything! It was so fun to hang out with family that we haven’t seen for such a long time. It was hard to leave the beauty of California behind…
We spent a lot of time at lake Mission Viejo. It was gorgeous! The beach was fun, but Lanette and Parker were both afraid of the waves (they were pretty strong that day). Lanette learned a new word during our trip – traffic. She kept asking why were weren’t moving…for an hour!
No matter how fun a vacation is it is always nice to come home. Thank heaven’s for regular schedules!!
New Place
Here are a few pics of our new apartment (for those of you who care!). We are doing great. Although having Aaron gone studying is going to take some adjustment. He’s pretty much been doing my job for the last few weeks…back to work I guess! 🙂

Moving and all that Jazz
We kept reassuring Lanette that all her things were going to move with us. She only had one breakdown during the packing up process (she wanted to run down the stairs and into the truck), luckily my mom took the kids on a walk and solved the problem!!
This is one MASSIVE moving truck. My dad was kind enough to drive this baby the whole way to our new apartment. The guys packed it up so well we could have fit a few more things in the back. It was sure worth the extra money to not have it packed clear to the top!
This was when I was really grateful for a few of Aaron’s strong friends helping us out! I’d love to say that I hope we don’t move for a VERY long time, but with Aaron’s internship this coming April – who knows! I guess I’ll just grin and bear it! Pictures of our new digs coming soon!
Quality time with the outdoors, cousins and grandparents!
Before the big move (I’m not sure if you can actually call it that) we spent a week with my parents and a few of my siblings. It was awesome. Lanette was in outdoor heaven. She played in the grass, jumped on the trampoline, fed the horses, rolled down the hill, rode on a horse and stayed up until all hours of the night! Vacations should always be so carefree! Thanks to all the family who made our visit such a blast!
